"Wisconsin's Last Wilderness" recognized as a Bird City

The Town of Presque Isle received recognition on Aug. 10, 2011, as a Bird City Wisconsin community. It was honored for its efforts at bird conservation. Bird City Cordinator Carl Schwartz presented community leaders with street signs, a flag and a plaque to mark the designation, which is renewable annually. Accepting were Town Supervisor Chuck Hayes and George Nelson, the chairman of the town Beautification Committee who spearheaded the application. More than 30 people were on hand in the gardens of the Presque Isle Community Center on an extraordinarily beautiful day.  (Click Photos to enlarge)
