Recognition Awards

Once a community receives approval to become a Bird City Wisconsin, the following items will be provided to publicly celebrate that recognition:

Sustained Flight Awards

  •  Communities that maintain their Bird City status in subsequent years will receive an updated insert annually for their recognition plaque.

  •  Stickers for updating street signs will be supplied to mark 5, 10 and 15 year achievements and for each year thereafter.

High Flyer Awards

  •  Special recognition decals and updated plaques will be awarded to each community achieving this status.

  •  A prominent announcement on the BirdCityWisconsin.org web site and press releases to appropriate media.

Recipients of Bird City Wisconsin recognition will receive two street signs that can be displayed at entrances to the community. (They also may purchase additional signs.)



Communities recognized as a Bird City will receive two street signs and a flag that bear the logo designed by Tom and Mary Uttech (holding flag at left). Tom is among eight artists recently named by the American Academy of Arts and Letters to receive its 2010 awards in art. At right is Bird City coordinator Carl Schwartz.
